Lotus-Proton SUV sighted in China

The Youngman-Lotus range of cars have so far been targeted at second and third tier cities where the brand seems to have the strongest level of support, however the new SUV from Lotus will likely lift the brands awareness across China. This SUV/MPV crossover has been sighted once before on the hallowed pages of China Car Times, although this is the first time that we have been able to see the relatively good looking interior.

The Lotus Crossover concept, which was initially called the Lotus APX was due to be installed with V6 turbo engines to make it rival the Porsche Cayenne in the engine department, however as this new SUV is going to be aimed solely at China’s Lao Bai Xing (aka, the common man) then those V shapes are going to be dropped in favor of inline four cylinder units in 1.8L and 2.0L form with the engine supplier likely being Mitsubishi.

Pricing when launched is expected to be in the range of 120,000rmb to 150,000rmb, a second half 2012 launch is likely.
