Dongfeng-Renault JV to be signed soon, Chinese production of Renault’s happen in 2014-2016

French car maker Renault is apparently closer to signing a dealer with Dongfeng Auto according to Chinese news reports listed yesterday. Nissan-Renault CEO, Carlos Ghosn, made several comments on the future of Nissan in China at the Detroit Auto Show, Ghosn expressed that Dongfeng would soon become a major partner to Renault in the Chinese market and would use Chinese production to satisfy Chinese market demands.

Production of Renault vehicles in China is expected to take place between 2014 and 2016, however rumors of Dongfeng working with Renault have been circulating for a number of years, until official announcements are made from both parties it still seems that Renault’s China sales will continue to rely on Korean made imports.
