Chevrolet Malibu To Hit The Market in February

2011 chevrolet malibu official 300x180 Chevrolet Malibu To Hit The Market in FebruaryThe Chevrolet Malibu is a hotly anticipated car for 2012, the mid size sedan has already been shown off at multiple auto shows in China including the Shanghai and Guangzhou Auto Shows last year and has already been given plenty of air time by the Chinese press which seems to have made consumers think the car is already on the road. The Malibu has already hit other world markets such as Korea and the USA and the Chinese launch has been set for February 2012, just after the Chinese new year.

Although the Malibu is largely based on the Buick Regal, the Malibu has undergone considerable changes to make it unique to the Chevrolet brand. For the Chinese market 1.6T, 2.0L and 2.4L naturally aspirated engines are being used to entice consumers over to the big Chevy.

Yes, the Malibu looks good. But’ I’ll pass. The engine offerings here in the US are limited to 4-cylinders, no V-6 offered. Ford is going the same route with the Fusion, also. That’s now six mid-sizers that won’t offer the 6-cylinder (including the Suzuki Kizashi, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, and Mitsubishi Galant-and the Galant leaves the market this year). The 4′s may be more economical, but I prefer the performance of the 6′s, and I’m willing to pay the extra cost for the privilege. Sorry, GM and Ford, I’ll be looking elswhere.
