Geely to launch in Italy in 2012

Geely’s inroads into Western Auto market doesn’t just stop and start with its planned entry into Europe via the UK, Geely also plan to set up a car sales network in Italy according to Geely Italy’s Gianluca Gregis. Mr. Gregis told China Car Times that Geely plans to have 300 service centers and dealers in the Italian market within the next decade and will bring in the left hand drive Emgrand EC7 followed by the EC7-RV, a hatchback variant of the popular sedan.

Geely’s entry into Europe has been long predicted, but the obvious lack of technology and emissions standards has long been a stumbling block for Chinese car manufacturers, however Geely has recently scored a respectable 4 stars in the Euro NCAP crash testing with the EC7 sedan.

According to Mr. Gregis, Geely won’t stop with the EC7 sedan and hatch, other small cars from the Geely range will be making it into Italy within the next few years.
