Audi readies China for new A6L, media excited
Since the introduction of the A6L into China in the early 2000’s the A6 was bought largely by government fleets which take ministers from meeting to meeting to dinner in comfort and relative anonymity thanks to jet black window tints.
The new A6L will be launched in the coming weeks according to Chinese media sources with a completely new design taken from the A8, the interior has also been improved as have the engine range. The older 2.4 V6 engine has been replaced with a more efficient 2.0T and also 2.5T engine as well as a 3.0L TFSI that itself will come in two flavors, one with a lower power output of 140kW and another with a higher 220kW. Diesel engines will also be introduced with 2.0L and 3.0L turbo diesel being introduced, along with an all new hybrid. Pricing is expected to be from the high 300,000RMB range to the 600,000rmb when launched. With the Chinese government introducing its own age of austerity into its automotive fleets, it’s likely that government cutbacks will force Audi to chase the private market to boost A6 sales.
