Tired of life in Shanghai, Ferrari FF self immolates

ferrari FF fire 300x207 Tired of life in Shanghai, Ferrari FF self immolates A Ferrari FF officially ended its life in Shanghai over the weekend, the four seater was cruising through Shanghai’s Shi Bo Avenue when smoke began to pour out of the car along with hot fiery flames, it wasn’t long before Shanghai’s finest arrived on the scene and extinguished the flames but it was all too late.

The 5.3 million FF is likely a complete write off and will not be returning to Chinese roads again, Chinese media reported that nobody was hurt during the escapade. This is thought to be the first instance of an FF going up in flames, previously recalled the 458 Italia due to its ability to self immolate at inappropriate times. Chinese media, such as ifeng.com, are quoting Ferrari China personal as saying the investigation into the cause of the fire is still on going, however this has not stopped speculation that the fire was caused by the FF being driven for long periods of times at a low speed which made certain materials overheat and catch fire. Either way – the sight of a burnt out FF being dragged around Shanghai on the back of a tow truck is not going to be good news for Ferrari China.

It looks like the front 2/3 of the car isn’t in such bad shape. This should be an easy job for a local bodyshop, and we can expect this car to show up on the second-hand market in a few weeks.
