Beijing Auto, who has joint-ventures with Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai in China is readying an luxury sedan concept for the Beijing Auto Show. This would be sold under BAIC’s own brand, like the Saab-based C70G.
Named the C80K, it was designed with the help of Fioravanti, an Italian design studio and Shanghai-based Eastone.
The C80K is 5203mm long and 1915mm wide, which rivals large luxury sedans like BMW 7 Series and the Audi A8 in size. It features “suicide” doors and no B-pillar.
Chinese brands haven’t attempted to venture into the highly lucrative luxury segment. But with small cars seeing dwindling sales and large cars on the rise, local brands are now trying to move upmarket.

That is 100% fantastic.
But BAIC have a habit of making beautiful concepts, and not following them up.
You mean, like these cars?

A shame indeed.
Yes. One time I was in a Chinese design house whose name I will not mention and saw all of these cars and more undergoing testing. There was a 300C based model that just looked splendid.
Looks like they are going after the CLS and A7.
