Beijing Auto (BAIC) seems to be less content with just making cars for their joint-venture partners Mercedes and Hyundai. They brought a number of new cars to the Beijing Auto Show, including their Saab-based C70G, other sedans and a large luxury sedan concept.
Now, BAIC unveiled of concept crossover utility vehicle (CUV) previously unheard of by the Chinese media. It looks similar in size to CUVs like the Honda CRV.

The C51X would ride the same M-trix platform as the C70G and the C60F and C50E sedans Beijing Auto brought to Beijing. Not much else is known about yet, but we’ll keep you updated.
Its design is sober and there’s nothing too outlandish like one would find in a typical concept car. This could mean this SUV is actually close to production, although there’s been no word on when that might happen.

Wow. What a great looking car! BAIC does what Saab couldn’t: design a proper SUV.
That looks amazing. Beijing is set to get off to a great start with some superb looking cars.
Very well designed. Some parts resemble to that of Ford Ecosport but even that’s fine.
BAIC always has good looking concepts cars at an auto show. their real production cars looks like an ugly ripoff of others..
Amen to that, if BAIC keeps this up, I just might think about buying one when I get the chance. BAIC SUV or Saab 9-4X or 9-7 SUV? BAIC hands down
