Haima have made the most out of their relationship with Mazda, the two initially had a joint venture project in Haima’s hometown island of Hainan however FAW came into town and snapped up Haima and took Mazda to the frigid hinterlands in Jilin. Haima didn’t get completely pushed out of the relationship, they still receive older platforms and technology from Mazda to do with as they wish, they received the Mazda 323 platform several years ago and have been tinkering with it ever since. The Haima ZM2 has already been shown off at several auto shows in China as a pre-production concept, and it has been spotted out testing in China before as well.

The ZM2 is likely to come from Haima’s subsidary in Zhengzhou which is responsible for producing several different Haima models. The Beijing Auto Show next month is likely to play host to the products launch, engines are expected to be a 1.3L or the 1.6L, both sweet spots for Chinese car consumers.
