Buick Encore Testing in China Yet Again

The Chinese media are playing a guessing game over the Encore, they know its coming, but they don’t know if the road going versions currently camo’d up and out on China roads are Chinese market models or American market models. They also seem to think that the Chinese version will be carrying the same engines as the US version, which is headlined by a 1.4T. The Chinese market version is expected to be very different, cloth seats won’t be available on any model but the super basic one where a manual will likely be found, the top models will be 1.8L and possibly 2.0L naturally aspirated models with the 1.6T engine from the Buick Excelle and Chevrolet Cruze taking the flagship model.

When launched the Encore isn’t going to be taking on the well established CRV, instead its likely to be aimed at the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai IX35, both models have proven to be big hits in the Chinese market.

Nice! I will buy this car when it comes to America. If it gets here any time soon that is. Very impressive! Go Buick!
