Hatchback version of the Eado to hit the market in 2013

A hatchback version of the Eado is in the works to boost Changan’s sales numbers. The new car is expected to get a new 1.5T engine when it hits the market next year.

The Chang’an Eado has been enjoying good sales numbers, quickly climbing through the rankings. 1,000 were sold in March ’12, up some 390% compared to February.

The hatchback is expected to get the same 1.6L, 123hp and 160 N·m “Blue Core” engine that powers the sedan version. The transmission options for the sedan are a 5MT or 4AT.

However, a new 1.5 turbocharged engine and a six-speed automatic transmission are expected to be available when the hatchback gets listed next year.

Hum, good bit of styling there actually.

Though… ..not sure about the name. Eado is used as an acronym for the European Association of Dermato-Oncology. Not sure I’d want my car to share a name with a skin cancer treatment association.

I would be surprised if more than 0.1% of the population of Europe were aware of that so unlikely to be a problem.

Not too bad, actally like the sedan design over the Chevy Cruze. Hatchback is nice looking though. And that name seems weird.
