Ford’s Chinese partner, JMC, are rumored to be prepping a new SUV for the Chinese market. Ford realized over the past 24 months that the best way into mass Chinese sales is to introduce its hearty range of SUV’s into China, the company already has the Canadian made Edge crossover on sale in China but plans to introduce other models as locally made produce. Ford is already working with Chang’an to introduce the Ford Kuga and also Ecosport compact SUV but it is rumored that Ford’s Commercial Vehicles partner, JMC, will launch the latest generation Ford Escape in China. Chang’an Ford are working on bringing the European Ford Kuga into China at the same time, the Kuga was shown at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year and has already been spotted out testing on Chinese roads on several different occasions.
Rumors about JMC building the Escape come via the nndaily.com website, earlier last week JMC did announce that it was going to build a Ford SUV in China, then the investigative sorts at nndaily found that JMC had registered names that follow the Chinese naming pattern for Ford SUV’s meaning either JMC are ready to rock and roll with an Escape, or they are playing their cards very close to their chests.

There are two Ford joint ventures in China, one is Chang An Automobile Corporation in Chongqing, another is JMC in Nanchang, Jiang xi province. As we know, the former is good at making PV, JMC is a famous CV CO. in China. From my point of view, the Blue Oval need to bring more PV to Chongqing and more CV to JMC if it wants to catch up with VW and GM sales volume in this potential market. So far, there isn’t a Ford heavy truck produced in China, i think that is a good way to increase its profits in People’s Republic China.
