The ATS has been lauded by the Western media as a toy that is going to give the 3-Series a nightmare once it finally hits the roads, a compact RWD fun machine that will laugh at Bavaria’s finest with its American muscle wrapped in a tight package. Although that maybe the case in the West, in the glorious Orient, German products sit above all others in the luxury department.

The ATS has already been shown off at the Beijing Auto Show and is expected to hit the market later this year as an all American imported product, but high taxes and anti dumping taxes are likely to push the price up above 300,000RMB, a Chinese made version is expected to debut sometime in 2013 and finally get the Caddy name rolling as a luxury brand. A Chinese made ATS is likely to be in the 250,000-300,000RMB price range.
