Chang’an Mazda sales received a much welcome respite in May when sales were up a reported 40% according to the company. Mazda’s recent introduction of the latest generation of Mazda 3 in sedan and hatch form is being hailed as the solution to Mazda’s recent slow sales streak. The new Mazda3 is sold alongside the old Mazda3 which is now called the Mazda 3 Classic whilst the new one is referred to as the Mazda3 Xing Chi. Total sales for the JV reached 8091 units in May, 14% up month on month and 40% up year on year.
This year Mazda are expected to launch the CX5 as an imported product into the Chinese market, which will no doubt boost sales even further.
