FAW-VW to use the ‘Passat Method’ to develop new SUV

Volkswagen has a hard job in China, managing two highly sucesful joint venture is akin to raising chicks in a nest, the ones that cry out the loudest get the tastiest morsels of meat when mommy returns. SH-VW received the North American Passat, FAW-VW received the Euro Passat, FAW-VW develops the Bora, SH-VW develops the Lavida, SH-VW gets the Tiguan, FAW-VW gets the Golf. Can you say nightmare? Now FAW-VW want to emulate the popularity of the Tiguan by using the platform to develop their own compact SUV for the Chinese market.

Details regarding the new SUV are not entirely clear at this stage, with more rumors indicating that FAW-VW will introduce a Seat SUV into China very soon. Another rumor is that VW will introduce a mid size SUV to compete against the Toyota Highlander and Nissan Pathfinder, the Highlander has proven to be a popular vehicle in the Chinese market with no clear rivals as of yet despite it being on the market for several years.
