The Chinese market is already host to some of JLR’s China only products, the Freelander for example is already fitted with the 240BHP 2.0T engine that is going to be installed in the forthcoming Jaguar XF 2.0T, the top of the line 3.2L Freelander has already been wiped from the China market, giving Chinese consumers a choice of four cylinder diesel or petrol engines.

The addition of a 2.0T XF seems to be the logical step in producing more affordable yet just as powerful cars for the China market, the XF is currently available with a 3.0L V6 engine, the sales price is just shy of 600,000RMB for the base version and goes to just under 700,000RMB for the top line version. A V8 supercharged monster is 1.8 million RMB. In a recent interview with Chinese media, Jaguar’s product manager announced that JLR would introduce more ‘Chinese orientated‘ vehicles in the next few months.

The 2.0T engine in question for the XF is the same unit that is fitted into Volvo, Ford and Range Rover products, the unit is capable of producing 247BHP, more than enough to send the RWD along at a sensible pace, and also good competition for Audi’s own A4L and A6L models. A launch date or a price tag hasn’t yet been discussed, but potentially the turbo assisted XF might be here at the end of 2012 with a price tag in the high 400,000RMB territory.
