The Best Lamborghini in China is Not Actually a Lambo

One company decided that Lambo’s are just too expensive in China, Lambos cost serious money in the People’s Republic, the base Gallardo starts at 3.5 million and rises to 4.9 million, the Aventador is 6.45 million, not exactly cheap. But there is a second solution for those that want Lambo looks on Toyota money, one company in China is producing Lambo replicas for just 420,000RMB – a much more affordable figure. The downside is that instead of a sweet V12 you’re getting a 2.2L Toyota 3S engine: it gets worse, the eventual car hits 0-100kph in 9 seconds and has a top speed of 200kph, far from Lambo territory. The good news is that from the outside it looks 95% like a Lamborghini, those that actually understand what a Lambo looks like will call your bluff instantly but there’s not too many of those people in China. Original Lamborghini wheels can be added for a mere 50,000RMB, an original Lamborghini key can be procured for 9,000RMB, and if you cant muster up much love for four cylinder Toyota engines then the manufacturers can procure V6, V8 or even V12 engines, subject to extra fees of course.

Want one? You have to pay 210,000RMB up front and wait up to 5 months for the final car to arrive. We haven’t yet established what donor car these beasts are based upon,

Good to see they haven’t blown the whole marketing budget on the photo shoot. Probably still had enough money left over for a Erguotol and Chuar celebratory lunch.

So… what exactly is the point of this? As a show piece for someone who doesn’t wanna shell out the big bucks for a real Lambo? Or does he expect you to bring it to another country? Or is it common for people to ignore those laws in China?

I have just read about one Murcielago Replica (http://goo.gl/5W1MC) for sale based on Toyota MR2 and Bang! – another one. This time from China.
I have to say that this one here is much better looking.
