Qoros are still on with their plans to become a major player in the auto industry, the Israeli-Chinese JV are still on track with their plans to launch their first model in March next year. The company has set up its HQ in downtown Shanghai and also has a joint production facility in Changshu, 100km from Shanghai, in partnership with Chery.

The first model is expected to be a compact sedan with a 1.6T engine that was self developed by Qoros and its suppliers. Qoros unique selling point is expected to be its high tech pitch, a similar product pitch is being played by BYD and also Luxgen, so Qoros won’t be the only high tech model on the market in early 2013. This model was initially thought to launch at the Shanghai Auto Show, but Chinese press are currently saying it will be shown in Geneva.

For anyone following Qoros Auto on Weibo, the company is well ahead with its hot and cold weather testing that have seen the company go all over the world in the past few months.
