SAIC finally launched the MG6 Diesel on Thursday at the Guangzhou Auto Show, then MG UK followed through on the same day by posting a marketing picture of the MG6 Diesel surrounded by black smoke. The picture was quickly replaced with a regular black one on the MG home page, but the original file can still be seen on the MG UK site here, interesting file name too.

Are MG running short of vowels? The MG6 Derv will known as the ‘Desl’ model. Thankfully there was a shortage of black fumes at the MG stand, making the bright white MG6 DESL easily visible from all angles.

MG UK’s embargo on the MG6 DESL test drives was also lifted on Thursday afternoon after the diesel was launched in Shanghai, meaning that Auto Car’s review made it back online after being pulled earlier this month. The 148BHP 1.8T diesel engine has so far received favorable reviews, hopefully this will translate into greater sales for MG UK, and help the company expand into Europe.
