The Peugeot 3008 was a handsome car in concept car, but the harsh realities of production lines meant that much of the exterior was changed in favor of a wide mouth fish design. The Chinese market has been receiving imported 3008′s for around three years but sales have never exactly flourished in the face of locally built competition that were bigger, had more features and arguably looked better, but that could change with the introduction of a new China made facelift 3008.
Dongfeng-Peugeot released some official shots of the finished product over the weekend but spy shots from earlier this month reveal more about the update.
The ‘new’ 3008 wont be receiving the same power plants as Europe, Chinese consumers haven’t yet got the hang of hybrids so we cant expect any diesel hybrids in China just yet but we can expect Peugot to launch this model with 2 options, a naturally aspirated 2.0L engine which is also installed across other Peugeot models such as the 508 and 408 and also a range topping 1.6T.
The imported 1.6T 3008 sold for just over 240,000RMB but the Chinese made one could be as low as 180,000RMB for the top of the range model. We’re not yet sure if this model will come with AWD as an option, but it will be interesting to see.
Peugeot also have the 4008 on sale in China, the refaced Mitsubishi ASX SUV sells for between 210,000RMB and 260,000RMB as an imported model, there is currently no news of the Peugeot being locally made in Changsha alongside the ASX
