BYD’s current S6 SUV has already been a major hit, the Lexus inspired SUV gained huge momentum in the Chinese market owing to its size to price ratio that blows its competitors out of the water. For circa 100,000RMB you can get a mid size SUV with a 2.0L engine, whilst other manufacturers are offering compact SUV’s for the same price and 1.6L engines. How BYD managed to beat the price bracket is a mystery to us.

Later this year the S6 will have a bigger brother, the S7 is expected to launch at the Guangzhou Auto Show complete with a 2.0T engine developed by BYD themselves and also a Dual Clutch Gearbox that is already present on the BYD Su Rui sedan. The 2.0T is reportedly good for 155kw of power which is not too shabby at all. Now the question remains, is the above photo a real mock up leaked to the press, or has some up and coming Photoshop artist rendered himself a BYD nose onto a Lexus?
