Dongfeng’s HUV Arrives in the Patent Office

When a car appears in the Chinese patent office it can only mean that the model is on its way to production lines and then to the market, the Dongfeng HUV appeared yesterday.

The HUV is obviously a military style vehicle and remains true to the concept design that first appeared in 2012 at the Beijing Auto Show, even down to the cooling vents on the hood. Engine power is unknown, but we can bet it will be a large displacement four cylinder turbo diesel rather than any six cylinder models.

China has had a taste for Humvee knock offs for quite some time, the Dongfeng Crazy Soldier has seen some production but at 880,000 per unit it hasn’t sold too many as of yet. Shenyang Aircraft Industry Co also had a shot at designing one, but it doesn’t seem to have been taken up by the military in China as of yet.
