Fiat Announces John Burton as New GAC Fiat General Manager

GAC Fiat is one of the newest joint venture companies in the Chinese auto maker, the company was founded in 2010 with its World Class Manufacturing Facility based in Changsha. Jack Cheng was the previous General Manager of the joint venture but has since moved onto another role within the Fiat Group at as Country Manager China of Magneti Marelli

Jack Burton, a UK native, has a wealth of experience in the automotive industry with a wealth of experience in brownfield projects and greenfield plant startups, organizational turnaround and global projects.

“It’s an honor to join GAC Fiat and work in China, the largest automotive market in the world. I’m looking forward to a successful partnership with each and every member of the GAC Fiat team,” said Mr. Burton.

Under the leadership of Mr. Cheng, GAC Fiat has successfully launched imported models such as the Fiat Bravo, Fiat 500, Fiat 500c, Fiat 500 by Gucci and Fiat Freemont, in addition to its first locally built model, the Fiat Viaggio, which was launched in September 2012 and has received high praise from the media and customers alike.

“I’m truly grateful to everyone that helped get this joint-venture partnership to where it is today, including the central and Hunan local government, our partners, suppliers, dealers and journalists. Above all, I want to thank our loyal customers and employees in the JV. I wish GAC Fiat a great future and for the FIAT brand to continue to grow in China,” said Mr. Cheng.
