Roewe 550 Updated For 2013 With New 6 Speed Gearbox

The Roewe 550 popped onto the market in 2008 and has seen strong sales since then, the 550 is in need of a major overhaul to push it forward against increasingly competitive rivals but this mild overhaul might be enough to keep the 550 relevant in 2013 and beyond. Under the hood the same K-Series derived 1.8T and 1.8L naturally aspirated engines are in use but the much disliked 5 speed Aisin gearbox has been dumped in favor of a new self developed 6 speed dual clutch gearbox that was developed by SAIC and GM.

Do I take it that’s an automatic transmission – can’t recall Chinese cars having a manual option…
