The E400L is going to air at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 20th, but why wait until the 20th when you can see it right now on China Car Times thanks to the splendid guys at auto.sohu managing to get some spy pictures in early this year. The E400L is likely to be the E-Class that makes some headway against the seemingly unstoppable BMW 5-Series and Audi A6L in the Chinese market, Mercedes have lost a lot of ground over the past few years so here is hoping that they can make some back with this new 3.0T hybrid E-Class.

The 2013 E-Class will come in a few different flavors in China, at the lower end the E200 will pick up the slack with a 184bhp engine and also an E250 which offers the same 2.0T in 211bhp form. Bumping up to the E300 we have the 3.5L V6 engine giving out 252bhp and then a 304bhp E350L, the E400L offers the same V6 with a turbo attached to give out 333bhp. For the big spenders, the E500 offers a V8 in 4.7L form that will rip up the tarmac with its 408bhp and 600Nm of torque through the rear wheels, all models are mated to the seven speed autobox that Mercedes offer elsewhere in their lineup.
