Ford’s new Mondeo launched in China late yesterday evening with much fanfare from the Chinese automotive media. Ford’s new Mondeo has become a flagship for the Blue Oval in the Chinese market and comes at a night when Ford are placing more impoteus on the Chinese market to boost growth outside of the EU market.

Marin Burela, President and CEO of Changan Ford was on hand to say: “The all-new Mondeo is designed to stir the senses and transform“We’ve gone further in every aspect to bring to China the most premium Mondeo we have ever designed, developed and built,” expectations of what a car can be.It’s truly a flagship car, offering a blend of quality and excitement to our Chinese customers that raises the bar in the segment in terms of craftsmanship, style and technology- delivering what we believe our Chinese customers truly want and value.”

Ford’s new design language for the Mondeo is likely to make it an extremely popular for the Chinese market and certainly stands out on the road when compared to other stylish models such as the Kia K5 (Optima). The new model is also the first in China to offer advanced safety technology such as the inflatable rear seatbelts which combine airbag and seatbelt technology to further reduce injuries in event of a car crash.

Sales prices haven’t yet been revealed but its likely to be very competitive, Ford will probably air the prices at the Shanghai Auto Show later this month and also show their new China range which consists of three SUV’s, an MPV, a small car, the compact Focus and the new flagship Mondeo
