Chery’s new flagship sedan, the Arrizo 7, is heading to Brazil in early 2014 states auto.163.com who are quoting Chery’s top man in Brazil. Luís Curi told Brazilian reporters that along with the QQ and Fulwin range Chery will move to export the Arrizo sedan.
Chery are eager to expand in the Brazilian market with the company investing in a new facility in Jacarei, 100km from Sao Paolo, as a beachhead from which to spread throughout the South American market.
The Arrizo will be modified slightly for the Brazilian market with the 1.6L engine being replaced with a 2.0L engine from Chery’s ATECO range which will be equipped to use ethanol and gasoline, in the future the Chinese market will see the Arrizo with a 1.2T and 1.6T gasoline engine. Eventually the Arrizzo 7 will be produced domestically in Brazil which will move to lower prices considerably in a market where cars are already expensive, a Cherry Tiggo 3 sells for around 8-120,000RMB in the Chinese market but after taxes in Brazil that price shoots to 160,000RMB.
