Chinese media reports indicate that Chery are on the verge of signing a deal with Anhui Provincial Government and Wuhu City Government to develop a new facility at the Jiangbei Industrial park according to reports on both auto.163.com and auto.sohu.com. This new project is being managed by Lu Jianhui, one of Chery’s initial founders and a former deputy general manager of the company, it seems that Lu has been acting as a bridge between the government and the OEM side to find a solution to Chery’s limited production capacity, this new solution will give Chery the use of new factories which should be online as soon as 2015 and will produce Cowin models. Chery will hand 200 workers over to the project whilst the government side will be investing nearly 2 billion RMB.
