Tomorrow Chang’an will take the wraps off its brand new CS75 SUV at the Frankfurt Auto Show, Chang’an has previously used the Frankfurt Auto Show as a platform to launch their Eado sedan in China which they sold to Chinese consumers as being ‘Launched in Germany’ before being launched in the Chinese market, giving the compact sedan strong credibility.
Chang’an are using the same tactic with the new CS75, a compact D-segment SUV which will sit above its current compact CS35 SUV. Chang’an will show six vehicles in total at the Frankfurt Auto Show according to IHS Automotive’s Namrita Chow, including a flagship CS95 SUV concept design. According to Chow, the CS75 will be powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0L and also a 1.8T engine that was developed in house by Chang’an who boast engineering and design houses in the UK, Italy and in Beijing.
We have already had a brief sneak peak of what the future CS75 will look like thanks to side profile side pictures being posted to China Car Times earlier this year.
“The CS 75 will likely see sales of around 30,000 units per annum by 2015 in the domestic China market,” says IHS Automotive’s light vehicle sales forecast analyst Wang Zeng.
The new model will compete with the S6 SUV built by BYD Auto, which is also a D segment SUV as well as future offerings from Chery such as the Tiggo 5, both of which offer large size and efficient power trains for relatively low costs.
