The new Fiat Linea is a real international mish mash of parts, for example, the design is Italian, the body is Turkish and the engine is Chinese. It was announced a while back that Chery and Fiat had come to a deal to supply Fiat with ATECO engines Chery has recently supplied Fiat with a whopping 100,000 engines to use in its new Fiat Linea which is to be assembled in Turkey before being exported to mainland Europe. Look out for it on a road near you soon.

Published by December 15th, 2006 in Chinese Car Exports, Geely Automobile and Chinese Car News. 0 CommentsHi ho! Hi ho! It seems that Geely’s will soon be driving around in Siberia, at least according to the Kazakh state broadcaster they will be. I wonder how the Geelys, the models havnt yet been specified will cope with the extreme temperatures and the salty roads?

Ford Mondeo 2.5 V6 the UK - China Price Difference
Published by December 11th, 2006 in Chinese Car Exports and Chang'an Ford. 2 CommentsChina Car Times is busy car shopping this festive season, we wont actually buy one until after the Chinese New Year, so we can hopefully gouge a bigger discount out of the sales guy as everybody is pretty much broke after spring festival, thus very few sales for Mr. Car Sales Man. Anyway, Ive been tempted buy the Ford Mondeo thats manufactured with Chang An motors via a joint venture agreement. The one I would like to buy is the 2.5 V6 model, but when I checked the Chinese price against the price of the same spec in our home country, Gods green island - the UK, it came out to $6,000USD cheaper to buy one in China than the UK. I think Ill start buying and exporting Chinese Fords to other countries.
Zhongxing Automobiles to export their trucks to the USA?
Published by December 1st, 2006 in Chinese Car Exports, Zhongxing and Chinese Car News. 0 CommentsIt certainly seems so, although we often hear that xxx company is planning to export to the USA or Europe, the actual execution of the exportation plan rarely goes through, rarely. China Car Times can only think of Brilliance off the top our heads that have actually exported to the West, oh, and Landwind. I guess you could count SAIC and Nanjing Auto group in there as well, seeing as they bought their way into England via Rover/MG. Zhongxing automobile company, based in Hebei central China have signed a deal with American company ChamCo to help Zhongxing build a sales, and after sales network in the United States, they are currently preparing for sales of upto 150,000 units before 2010 in the American market alone! Obviously Zhong Xing knows how to set the bar, even the modest Geely is only aiming for 100,000 cars by the year 2010.

All aboard! Brilliance set to debut in Germany.
Published by November 30th, 2006 in Chinese Car Exports and Brilliance/Zhonghua Auto. 8 Comments
According to Shanghai Daily and the China Daily, Zhonghua Autos, English name Brilliance, plans to export 3000 cars to Germany in 2007, and then reaching up to 180,000 cars within 5 years! Ambitious plans for a company thats controlled by a mobile phone battery maker!
Zhong Hua/Brilliance are based in Shenyang, Liaoning in North East China. Under a deal with BMW, Zhonghua would get engineering and design help from BMW, and BMW in return would have a partner to help it produce the 3 and 5 series BMW’s in China. A great deal! The Zhonghua front end looks really nice, very similar to the BMW but still with an edge of its own. Brilliance have already exported 50,000 cars to other continents except North America and Europe before now, this is their first entry in Europe. If China Car Times liked sedan cars we would most definitely buy this car, however, as we very keen cyclists this Zhonghua isn’t very convenient for carrying bikes. Rumors have it the Zhonghua (pictured above) will cost between 15,000 and 20,000 Euros. Bargain!
