Discovery Channel recently made a visit to Lifan cars to view the progress that the Chinese auto maker is making in its bid to become a world player, as one recent China Car Times reader put it, the comparission to the Honda of yesteryear and the Lifan of today are startling, so it comes as no surprise the Discovery Channel had an interest in Lifan.
The TV show is expected to be aired in July or August later next year.

Has Ford being sharing technology with its Chang’an joint venture partner? Is the new Landwind Hua Feng set to become a Ford Fiesta beater in China? Superminis like the Fiesta, the Honda Fit, the QQ et all are all BIG sellers in China - popular with young early twenties buyers and older buyers alike. Landwind, (in)famous for its Isuzu SUV will begin formally selling the Hua Feng in August this year at the bargain price of 50 to 65,000rmb.
The Landwind Hua Feng will become with a 1.6 engine which is not to dissimilar from the Ford Fiesta. There are a few other cars available at this price, notably the Geely Freedom Vessel but nothing amazing.

JAC the Anhui province based auto maker is teaming up with China Oriental Asset Management company to start providing auto loans to potential buyers. Getting an auto loan in China is tough - you have to pay a hefty down payment and that doesnt always guarentee you a loan from one of the big banks - now that a company is out there specializing in auto loans they will no doubt be a big success in China. JAC and China Oriental have put together a 500 million RMB investment plan according to a document filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange. JAC will invest 100 million RMB and its parent company, Jianghuai would invest 150 million RMB for a 30% share.
Perhaps I can get a loan to buy a JAC Vision 2 now - pictured left
